Madeira - Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço

PT// A vereda de 4 Km (PR8), com duração 2:30 horas, explora a península de São Lourenço. O caminho é ondulante, está em boas condições e permite observar as paisagens de arriba da ponta Este da ilha.  O trilho percorre a Ponta de S. Lourenço, península mais a Este da ilha da Madeira, batizada com o nome da caravela de João Gonçalves Zarco, um dos três descobridores da ilha da Madeira.  Esta península é de origem vulcânica, na sua maioria basáltica, existindo também formações de sedimentos calcários. No seu seguimento temos dois ilhéus: o ilhéu da Cevada, da Metade ou dos Desembarcadouros, o ilhéu da Ponta de S. Lourenço, do Farol ou de Fora.  No fim do percurso existe um edifício, a casa do Sardinha, onde possui serviço de bar. No final poderá dar um mergulho no cais do Sardinha. Na linha do horizonte temos a Sul as ilhas Desertas e a Norte as ilhas do Porto Santo. EN// Visiting some of the finest cliff scenery on Madeira, this walk explores the long thin peninsula at the eastern end of the island. The paths are good, but undulating - whether you get close to the edges is up to you.  The trail (PR 8) follows S. Lourenço Point, the eastern-most peninsula of Madeira island, named after the caravel sailed by João Gonçalves de Zarco, one of the three discoverers of Madeira island, who on coming near this piece of land shouted to his ship “São Lourenço, that’s enough!”. At the end of the trail, you can dive in the Sardinha port. The Sardinha house has a bar service. On the horizon to the South you can see Ilhas Desertas (Deserted Islands) and to the North the Porto Santo Islands.
